Linking unrelated individuals

I have entered two very close families in my tree that use aunt, uncle, etc when talking, but they are not related in any way. How can I link them together?
I have data for both families entered in the Records window but cannot move directly between them. I tried using the Add tab, then unrelated individual, but it creates another set of duplicate records.I do not want to delete the existing records because it will take too much effort.
I am using Family Historian 4. Thanks Adjer.

Have you tried:
Add Miscellaneous > Add Associated Person > Add Link to Existing Individual Record
You can also add a Type and a Relationship field.
This is only a one way association, so if you want a reverse association, you will have to repeat this operation for the other Individual Record.
This can be repeated for as many individual as you like and have multiple associations for any one individual.
To move directly between individuals you could try using Property Box Customisation and add an Association tab with a list of Individuals that you might be able to click to jump from one to another.

To be more precise, either in the Records Window - Individuals tab or the Property Box - All tab, right-click on the Individual's name to get the context menu containing Add Miscellaneous > ....
However, if you persevere with the following customisation it provides an easier method of managing Associated Individuals.
To customise the Property Box proceed as follows:
Click its icon that looks like a scroll down box with a red tick to get the context menu.
Click on the Customize option.
Click on the New Tab button and name the tab Associations
Clear tick from Show most commonly-used items only
Select at top of left-hand list then click the > button in the middle.
Enter Custom Item Name as Association 1
Tick Part 1.
Enter Label as Association 1 and Data Reference as INDI.ASSO[1]
Tick Part 2.
Enter Label as Relationship and Data Reference as INDI.ASSO[1].RELA
Click OK button.
Repeat the above from 'Select ...' for Association 2, 3, 4, etc, using [2], [3], [4] etc, in the Data Reference.
(If you prefer you can return and do this later).
Click OK in Customize Property Box window.
Then on the Property Box - Associations tab you can click on the menu icon at right-hand end of Association 1 field and choose from Select / Clear / Go to Individual.
This allows you to add and remove Associated Individuals and define their Relationship very easily.

Reading your post again did you mean you have entered your Aunts family and she does not appear in your Grandparents Family?
If this is the case just use 'Add Child' and then select Existing record and you will be prompted to select someone, then select your Aunt from the list.

Hello,
My problem 'linking unrelated individuals' is solved. The precise instructions provided for creating a new tab called 'Associations' in the Property Box worked perfectly 1st time. I could not have done it without this help. Many many thanks to 'tatewise' for providing them. Thanks also to the administrator for this excellent site for a 'noddy' like me. Adjer.

There is now an
Individual Property Box tab customisation for
Associated Persons available in the
Knowledge Base > FHUG Downloads > Property Box section.
