Recording Military History

Post by rfj1001 » 22 Jul 2004 19:45

I'd like to record rank/regiment for particular dates against individuals against a specific event or attribute so I can isolate them. But the 'military' events only have fields for place, address and cause - none of which are really relevant and, if I used them, would be totally misleading.

Is there a way I can put the info into FH in a more meaningful way.

TIA

You might find a custom attribute rather than a custom event more useful to record ranks. E.g. If you create a custom attribute 'Army Rank', you get a box to fill in the rank as well as a date, etc. and it will appear in the event list as e.g.

1 Apr 1864 Army Rank: Private

You could create a similar attribute for regiment or just have a single attribute 'Army Rank and Regiment' and fill in the box with e.g. 'Private, Kings Liverpool Regiment'

Hope this helps
