I have started to use ancestral sources today and found that it appears to have duplicated all my previous record flag census entries adding UK to them. Problem being some entires now show two flags for the one census while others dont. Can they be merged ?Image

Well I have part solved the issue, I had the 01 census showing the 91 census icon.
BUT - I still have two flags showing after adding a 1911 census entry through AS.Image

Have you looked at Ancestral Sources options via menu bar Census > Census Date Check and Census Flag Check?
The Date Check ensures your Census Dates are correct.
The Flag Check lets you add flags consistently.
See the Help for more details.

See also Family Historian menu bar Tools > Work with Named Lists and Flags where option 3. lets you clear all Flags with the same name.

By default Ancestral Sources gives flags names such as '1891 UK Census' as you have commented. However, if instead of just accepting this suggested flag name you had selected your existing flag name (e.g. 1891 census) from the list of existing flags you would have been able to use those instead.

As Tatewise suggests, you can simply delete these flags from your file and then back in Ancestral Sources select your existing flag names. If you go to Census menu and select 'Flag Settings' you will be able to select the allocated flags one-by-one from the list and change the flag name to one from the drop-down list. I know this sounds confusing but actually in practice it is quite straight forward honest!

If you need more detailed info please ask.

Cheers

Nick
