Page X of Y

Post by Antaeus » 17 Sep 2010 20:51

Hi I have just bought FH V4.1.3. Can anyone tell me how I can number each page in the Individual Sumary Report similar to the way in which it can be done in Microsoft Word for example Page 1 of 10, Page 2 of 10 etc. I apologise in advance if this question has already been answered.

No, I think the only options are the ones shown on the Page Layout Tab, you could of course, enter a fixed number, if you wanted to, but you would need to change it for each report.

Hello Antaeus

Is there a reason you can’t Save Report As ... Word-Processor Document (RTF) then open it in Microsoft Word?
You would then be able to View Header/Footer, Insert Auto Text, Page X of Y.

Many thanks for all your suggestions. I have tried adding the page number in the Page layout tab etc. Eventually placed all pages of the report in the printer. I opened a blank Word document and used the Page X of Y facility and inserted the sequential page numbers together with the total number of pages, bit labourious I know, but it gave me what I required. I thought that there would be similar method in FH without leaving the programme. Thanks once again for your replies.

What Jane meant was that all you would have to do in Family Historian is to go to Report Options->Page Layout and under the Footer 'Centre aligned text' change it to say:

=Page() of 30

(30 is an example, you would type in the appropriate number of pages for the report you are printing)

A bit irritating to have to fill in this number and change it for every report, but sounds easier than what you did!

Hello Nick
Many thanks for your clear answer and your forbearance with a stumbling newcomer, could I ask just one other question how can I get FH to open directly (after the main FH picture box appears) into the Individuals tab which shows Individual Records, Record ID, Dates window?

Select Preferences... from the Tools menu and on the Startup tab tick the box for Display the Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at Startup.
