I have been using Gedmill to consruct my tree for my website http://www.peterdriver.net . I am finding problems when I try to update /Change my tree. I use filezilla an the means to upload and manage my ftp files produced by Gedmil.
My Host server has looked into this problem and has sent this reply :-

The FTP problem that you have been having due to the volume of files in the htdocs folder will need to be resolved by organising the files into separate folders as previously suggested.

You should contact the providers of your web publishing software in order to address this. I am sure they will be able to explain how to go about this.

As Gedmil is no longer supported ! can anyone help.

I have not found a problem where you could not upload a large number of files to a folder, only an issue in the fact that you can't list them.

If you look at the FTP log from Filezilla does the list simply get truncated?

If this is the case then you could simply use the old windows command line processor to upload all the files using MPUT

You could try using the Microsoft Windows Explorer FTP capability instead of FileZilla.
(Yes, I mean Windows Explorer not Internet Explorer.)
Open Windows Explorer and clear the Folder Address Bar at the top.
Type in your FTP server address such as ftp://www.domain.co.uk and press Enter.
There should be a pop-up window asking for your User name: and Password: so fill them in and click Log On.
If you tick Save password it will automatically log on next time you enter the FTP server address.
You should be presented with the top level files and folders of your website.
Open another Windows Explorer copy and navigate to your PC FH Website folder.
You can then use normal Windows drag & drop to copy or move files between your PC folders and the Website folders.
