Hi,
I recently bought FH 2.1 and upgraded to 2.2.
I have a GEDCOM file that I exported from another application and this works fine in FH, but I have noticed the following.
I have associated .GED files with FH in Windows XP. If I double click my .GED file, FH opens with the file, but I am unable to save any changes. The popup 'Save/Yes/No/Cancel' appears but nothing happens when I click Save. The only way to exit the program is to say No to the save prompt. On the other hand, if I open FH first and then open my .GED file from within FH, everything works fine and I am able to save ok.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a known bug?

Unable to Save in FH
Did you have the demo version installed before you bought the full program?
Do you perhaps have your .ged files associated with the demo program?

Unable to Save in FH
Norman could be right.
When the program is opened via the double click method, click on the help about option to check.

No, I didn't install the demo. I saw an excellent review of FH in a computer magazine and went straight out and bought it! So far I'm very pleased with it.

Unable to Save in FH
I have not been able to reproduce the problem on my system.[confused]
If you open the file using the click on file method could you confirm this is the actual file and not a short cut to it, also if you press the save button does that prompt or do the save?
My prompt, which comes up when I have made changes and not saved them does not have a button for save only Yes / No / Cancel, pressing Yes saves the file.

The file I am using is not a shortcut.
I have just noticed something else:
If I click on the file to open FH, i.e. the non-working option, and then choose exit, the Save popup appears but asks if I want to save my filename, but it has appended a double quote ('). For example, my file is called 'My Family Tree.GED' with the spaces, but FH is asking if I want to save a file called 'My Family Tree'.GED'. Could this be a problem with filenames with spaces in them? Just guessing. I have not tried a filename without spaces yet.

Hi,
Solved the problem! There was something wrong with the way that Windows was associating .ged files with FH. Under File Types in Explorer, I reset the default and saving works ok now. I think that FH automatically associated .ged and I may have done it manually also, causing a problem.
