Parish Registers in FH

Post by Ebor337 » 18 Aug 2010 22:20

Hello,

I have quite a large collection of Parish registers that I have bought, they are all transcribed from fiche into microsft word.

Just wondering you people would make a record of these on FH? Would it best practice to make a screen print and save as a jpeg or something? Want to make sure I know the source.

Any advice much appreciated. :)

I would simply attach the word document as a multimedia record, FH won't include it in reports, but it will be with in your project and you will be able to double click it to view it in word.

Thank-you Jane,

I'm assuming I could create my own flag and associated icon for these records too?

Say; baptisms, banns, marriage, burial?

Would this work?

Yes, and there are some icons in the Downloads for those, if I remember correctly.

Hi,
I convert Word pages to jpg files which will display in FH without having yo open Word etc.
I use a fantastic piece of FREE software called 'Faststine Capture' that I downloaded from the internet.
I also use it to capture anything else I might want like Census pages, LDS pages, in fact anything that is displayed on the screen.
Regards
John

I keep my own transcriptions (which can run to 100s for any one parish) on a separate Excel file so I can sort and search them to help find other families with the names I have transcribed. I wouldn't attach the whole file to FH but just use the particular bit describing, say, the baptism. My source is merely 'parish records'.

LOL, I like to keep it simple but I know that wouldn't do for others.

Anne
