Problem updating saved chart.

Post by TimM » 05 Aug 2010 23:26

I’ve got a descendant diagram in which I’ve repositioned most boxes and bars to suit the page.
There are a number of  individuals with linked photos displayed against their box. The Diagram has been saved as a  FH Chart.
I’ve now got some new photos to add for other people. I’ve added the photos and linked them to the individuals, but they don’t appear in the diagram. If I open a new diagram, the pictures are fine. But the saved diagram won’t update. I’ve tried Window/refresh, no joy, I’ve saved and closed FH and restarted it, still none of the newly linked pictures show.
Am I missing something, or what?

Try the following settings.

(1) Use Diagrams > Options > Pictures tab, and ensure Preference = 1st and try Shrink Large Pictures = To height of box.

(2) Select the diagram boxes that should contain pictures and use Diagrams > Box States > Autosize Box. You may then have to use Diagrams > Pages, Ros/Columns & Boxes options to realign the boxes.

Thanks Tatewise.
I had tried various Diagrams>Options, including Preference = 1st, but that hadn't worked. I tried stretching the boxes in question, in case the pictures needed a larger box, but that hadn't worked either.
However your suggestion of selecting the box and setting it to Autosize has worked, thanks.

Luckily I knew which individuals had missing pictures, and there weren't many of them. But if there were lots to do, then I think the boxes should autosize automatically and/or there should be a global autosize command.

You can select multiple boxes and then click on Autosize. To select every box in a large tree, you can click on the 'globe' button to view whole tree, and then drag a rectangle around it.
