Clearing Recently used files

Post by Jane » 24 Jul 2010 18:52

I have written a small utility to clear out the recent file list on Family historian.  It uses AutoHotKey (source below)

I would appreciate a couple of people trying it for me before I put it on the downloads.  Please only run when FH is not active.

fhclrmrulist.exe

Code: Select all

MsgBox, 4,Family Historian Filelist, Would you like to continue? (press Yes or No)
IfMsgBox Yes
{
  RegWrite, REG_SZ, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, SoftwareCalico PieFamily HistorianRecent File List, File1
  RegWrite, REG_SZ, HKEY_CURRENT_USER, SoftwareCalico PieFamily HistorianRecent File List, File2

  MsgBox, 0, Family Historian Filelist, Your recently used file list for Family Historian has been cleared.
}
else
    MsgBox 0, Family Historian Filelist, Routine Cancelled.

Works fine for me. If anyone accidentally runs it with FH running it shouldn't cause a problem, it just won't clear the entries.

Clearing Recently used files

I'm very hesitant to use this without further info/instructions but REALLY want to use this with my database as soon as I know that it is not going to do something quirky. I have several that need clearing.

Can someone fill me in on whether it asks for a yes with each one? That would be the most desireable scenario.

Thanks.[smile]

I don't think it will ask for each one, but clear them all out. However, you should be able to then add the ones you want back by opening each one in turn...

FH lists up to 9 recently used files. This utility simply asks if you are sure you want to clear them and if you click Yes it clears each of these 9. As Cole Valley Girl says, next time you open a file it will appear in the list again.
