When I choose a text scheme which includes photos in the diagram, the boxes for people with no photo are very large (leaving space for a photo). Is there any way of instucting the programme not to leave a space if there is no photo?

Family Historian is not supposed to leave any space at all for photos for people who don't have them. The only circumstances in which it does this, that I am aware of, is if you have a 'broken link' to a photo, where the photo file is not found. You can check for broken links (and possibly fix them) using the 'Work with External File Links' dialog on the Tools menu. Click Help in that dialog for more help on using it.
