It is also useful for photographing a screen shot from a microfilm viewer (provided that is permitted of course)

I decided against an Ipad and purchased a Netbook, has hard drive, runs FH and displays everything without any problems, just resized the Focus screen etc.
It is slightly larger than an Ipad (26cm x 18cm x 2.5cm or 10in x 7in x 1in), proper keyboard, 6 - 8 hours battery life, 25cm (10in) screen, USB ports etc.
And far cheaper at £300.
Bought it to take to Australia to show the tree to daughters new in-laws and gave them printouts and the CD data on Mem stick. Same thing for cousins in Sydney next week.
I am glad I didn't give in and get an IPad.

I debated about getting an Ipad or similar last year and decided to get a netbook. I have a slightly larger one as it had more memory and RAM but is a lot more portable than my laptop and has a keyboard (much better for entering data).
I already had a phone with myroots on for carrying my gedcom file with me.

I have the Ancestry app on my Galaxy 10.1 tablet and am similarly impressed with its ablilities, it will enable me to add details to my tree when I am out and about, which I can then cross reference to FH at home (or upload I guess). Or create new ones.
The Galaxy tablet I bought comes complete with word processing application that can access documents on Dropbox, or create new ones, I probably wouldn't want to write a novel on it but its fine for notes.  There is also a actual notepad which I use for reminders of what to do next, and a good camera which would enable me to capture documents when out and about.
I think the Galaxy is the best gadget I have owned (I don't have a smart phone because I don't think I could read the text easily).  I can also read documents such as manuals, that I have saved to Dropbox, either in ebooks or in the word processing package which I find works better for these long pdf files - though that might be me not using ebooks properly.
