People to find in UK 1911 census query

Post by davidf » 12 Jun 2010 23:38

I am trying to write a query to list people who I would expect to find in the 1911 Census.

The easy bit is filtering out:
those born after the census
those who died / were buried before the census
those who would be over [100] on census day
those who are less than two generations from me (file root)

The problem comes in finding some of the women. I want to create a column which contains the Surname they would have had on Census day. So how do I find the marriage immediately prior to a given date? Then I can look for the husband's surname - but I have to ensure that I have picked up the right marriage. It would be nice also to check the status to take account of those who were unmarried couples and those who divorced prior to the given date. (I give up on those who become double-barrelled on marriage!)

Any ideas?

TIA
David

I don't think you can do the surname element directly. What I would do is simply to add 3 double columns for family as spouse data and show the date of marriage and the surname.
