Blocking selected photos in online Trees

There may be a very obvious answer to this question, so please forgive me if I have missed it.
I have been sent photographs by a relative to include in my Family Historian data, in particular for a tree that is to be printed and sent to members of that specific branch of the family.
However, she has requested that the photos that she has provided do not appear online in any trees.
Is there a means of 'flagging' or the equivalent these specific photos so that they alone can be excluded, as opposed to ALL the photographs in the project?
With thanks in anticipation.

You can mark multimedia items so that they don't appear in reports or diagrams. Diagrams don't appear online unless you manually include them. Reports can appear online if you use FH's website generation facility.
If you put your data online using some method other than FH's, then you will need to exclude the multimedia records from being exported. This is either all or none. However this is only the multimedia record, not the actual image file itself. When you upload your data to a website you will need to select the multimedia to upload so all that you need to do is not select the private photos. How you do this is outside the scope of FH.
To change the settings for pictures appearing reports or diagrams go to the media window (View->Multimedia or the camera icon in the toolbar). Select the photograph in question. In the 'Linked Record & Notes' part of the window right click on a record and you will get options to indicate what you want FH to do with the photo when the selected record is used in a diagram/report.

Many thanks for your reply, Jon.
Sorry it has taken me a while to respond and thank you - but I have been away for a while.
I have looked into your method - which I hadn't known about previously - and, yes, it works fine for reports and diagrams.
I upload my data using Family Historians website-creating tool.
As you suggest, I can't see a method of excluding certain photos from the website unless I exclude all photos - which I don't want to do.
However, I appreciate my 'problem' is an odd one, and only arises because one relative has asked me not to publish certain photos (that she has kindly provided) online, although she is happy for them to be used in the creation of a printed tree to be distruibuted amongst actual family members.
This is understandable I guess - but I suspect it is a rare problem!
I imagine the only solution would be a feature (not yet present in Family Historian) to flag individual media files as private.
I will just have to remove the photos from the GEDCOM it seems before uploading an updated tree.
Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply.

You may be able to do what you want using GEDmill -- an alternative website generation package from

Hi Graham,
I noticed you used the term
'I will just have to remove the photos from the GEDCOM it seems before uploading an updated tree'.
If this means that you normally embed your images in your gedcom file why not consider making these particular images 'linked to' rather than embedded. Then you could just temporarily move these linked to photos to a tempory location before exporting your ged file to a website and they will not appear. If you keep all these photos, and only these, in one folder you could just rename the folder.
Even if you do normally have all your files linked rather than embedded you could just keep all these files in a seperate folder and use the renaming approach. OK, you have to remember to do it, but you would you would have to remember to take some action if you just have them flagged in some way.
Might be worth a try.

Just thought I'd add to this -
I always use Res Privata to make a filtered copy of my ged file before posting it to the likes of Genes Reunited or Ancestry. I removed the day/month part of the date for any births, deaths or marriages for any living people, as well a notes and multimedia.
You could make renaming a folder just part of this 'process'. It could even be automated via a batch file, but that's getting into programming (of sorts). Probably easiest just to do it manually.
David
PS Res Privata is available via the Downloads, Gedcom section on this user group website.
