Cousin Marriage

Post by sbonar » 20 Jun 2004 09:59

In my tree, I have cousins who married. I entered the information OK, by linking the male to the existing record of the female. Everthing in Record View is fine. However, when I go to Diagram View, in descendant diagram, the marriage and offspring are drawn twice - once with each parent family; and in ancestor view, the grandparents are drawn twice. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

It doesn't sound to me as if you're doing any wrong.  The problem is just that F.H. doesn't automatically remove duplicated information for you.  You can easily use the expansion buttons to hide duplicates (and use Override Text to add a comment to this effect if you want to).  We have had various requests for more help with this though, so you're by no means alone.

Thanks for the reassurance that it isn't me! I had expected that proxy boxes would be used from each parent family to a new location. As it is, not only do I have a family repeated (which I can hide as you say), but the diagram doesn't really illustrate the true relationship. I'll vote on the wish list.
Thanks
