How can I show on FH that there's a census entry?
Just started to use AS- it's great..thank you!
I have stored many census images over a long time and now wish to add these to FH. I appreciate that a census image can be stored in the program's multimedia file and that this will form a record of the censuses that have been entered.
I wonder how I can otherwise simply show that a census entry has been entered.
I don't want to show the image itself in a diagram.
I want to show that there is a census entry in
the 'Individual Records' and the 'Diagram' windows.
Thanks

AS will optionally create a flag for individuals for each census. From that you can add Icons to your diagrams

As an example your diagram will look like the following;Jane said:

Thank you both very much for such speedy responses.
I will have a go at flags and icons as it seems to be the solution...the tutorial also makes it seem straightforward.
Unfortunately the available icons for use don't really relate to any year! Ive searched for buttons to edit to show census years but I can't trace any!
Anyone know where I could download a small button or similar into which a date could be edited?
Thanks again

Stewart,
Plenty of icons to choose from here:

Thank you Robin - plenty of choice I agree- I chose Jane's icons!
Well all seemed to be going along really well..I followed the demo and thought that I had set up the flags correctly. I went on to use the 01 icon to show the 1901 census entries in the diagram only to find that in fact I've attached it to everyone!!
Clearly my exclusion wasn't correct!
It reads:
Condition Exclude if
Expression %INDI._FLGS.__1901_CENSUS%
Operator is set
The second line seemed to be automatically generated so I presumed it would function as I wanted.(FH v4)
'Operator' had no choice on dropdown other than the one
shown.
I am sure all will be well soon- help please!

No, that checks the Flag not the Census entry.
You need to check
Exclude if
INDI.CENS[1901] is null
I would always recommend selecting the event you want from the data references on the left it's much easier than remembering the codes.
Checking the Flag is pointless until you have one set.

All is well!
I presume that when I use AS to link new census images to individuals already listed on FH that they will be automatically flagged if it's a 1901 census entry and that the diagram will show the 01 icon automatically. Is that correct?

There is also a facility in AS to automatically check all records in your existing file for missing (or wrongly assigned) census flags and insert (or remove) appropriate flags.

This is assuming you've allocated flags to censuses using the 'Flag Settings' option from the 'Census' menu in Ancestral Sources.stewart60 said:

Thank you Nick
I wouldn't have realised that so I'm glad you drew attention to it!
Thanks
