Adding New Individuals

Hi, I'm just getting started with Ancestral Sources and love the idea of being able to add new individuals without having to go back to FH. I always found it so difficult to remember to hit save when switching between FH and Gedcom Census!
I have read all the options in the help file, but have only been able to find 'add an unrelated individual' in the actual programme. Is this the only option in v1, or am I missing something?

Hi Kevin
Find the individual you're interested in either by searching for them by name or ID, by clicking on them in the list or by navigating through the parents/children lists, etc. (Don't double-click on them as this will add them to the census entry). You can then click on the 'Add Parent', 'Add Spouse', 'Add Sibling' or 'Add Child' links which are just above each of the list boxes on the right-hand side.
As you've presumably already found, you can add an unrelated individual either using the Edit menu->New Unrelated Individual or using the icon in the toolbar (6th one).
Hope that helps
Nick

Hi Nick,
Thanks for such a speedy reply. I must have been blind! I was looking for these in the tools menu/tool bar with the add unrelated individual - never looked over to the side...
Look forward to using these - most useful. Thanks again.

I added a whole load of data and new people yesterday. This new feature makes working with AS so much quicker and simpler than GC, great job, many thanks! I also find it especially useful that I can now enter the data from a census, running just AS from a USB stick, when FH is not available - in my lunch break.
One little related question - if a new census entry gives additional detail on a person already in my file, eg second name or wife's maiden name (if in-laws are present) - is it possible to edit that individual's name from AS?

No it isn't possible currently to edit name, though it is on the wishlist (i.e. someone else has requested it).
Thanks for your comments
