I have been using FH 4 for well over a year and have always been able to open the property box for a person by clicking on them in a diagram , but this proceedure has suddenly failed to work. When I click on the propeerty box icon in the menu bar nothing happens.
Help, please.

Have you been using FH with two screens on your PC?
The most common reason for this is that you moved the property box to your second screen and forgot to move it back.

What catches me out is when I move the box down to the bottom, nearly off the screen.
Go to - Tools > Prefernce > Property Box and change setting for Record Window to Docked.

This problem has just happened to me on my notebook pc. The property box is not appearing when I click on a person in diagram mode. On my main PC it appears as normal.
I have tried closing FH and opening again. I have also checked the Preferences under Tools and they are exactly the same on both computers. Any suggestions please?

Do you ever run your Laptop with a second screen, if you do it's possible you moved the property box over to it and it's now 'appearing' on the non existent second screen.
If you use the dock setting it should move it back.

Thanks for replying Jane, no I don't use a second screen on my laptop.
I have set all three windows in the preferences to Docked and have managed to get the property box to appear on the right hand-side. As soon as I try and float it (using the button next to the cross) it disappears and will not reappear when I click on someone.

My techie son has just arrived home and sorted it!
He recently exported the FH key from my desktop (which has two screens) and imported it on my laptop to bring the custom flags across.
The solution was to clear the registry keys under HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCalico PieFamily Historian2.0Preferences*
Thanks again for your help.

Here is an easier solution that seems to work.
Use Tools > Preferences > Property Box.
Change the associated Floating mode to Docked and click OK.
Switch to another display such as Focus or Query.
Use Tools > Preferences > Property Box, reset Floating mode, and click OK.
Then switch back to your original window and click on a record to open a Property Box.

Thanks Tatewise, I will try that if it happens again. Hopefully I will learn an easy way to save all my custom settings and flags before the next time I have to reinstall FH!!
