You could create a flag and then set a condition which might, for instance, draw the box in a different colour.
(If the individual re-marries then you would need to decide if the flag would still apply!)
Anyone know if there is any other way to show a widow/er?
Gerry

They're not a widower for their entire life so its not something that makes sense without dates really. You could create an unknown spouse with a death before a given date (which might be the earliest date you were aware they were a widower).

How to show status of Widow or Widower
Hi Nick & Gerry, Thanks for the replies.
I'm new to using Family Historian &I cannot seem to show that my Gt Uncle maried twice.
I enter his first wife as spouse but then he is widowed and I cannot see where to enter details for his second wife.
Hope I get the hang of it soon !!
Barbara.

This 'How To' should show you what to do and also give you some more information about what to do if one of your individuals has children by multiple partners.
Recording Children for multiple partnerships

How to show status of Widow or Widower
To get around this I created an attribute called Marital Status which can have various values e.g. widowed, unmarried etc. and works in narrative reports.

Hi stillsearching, thanks for the comments.
May I ask just how you ' created an attribute called Marital Status which can have various values e.g. widowed, unmarried etc. and works in narrative reports' ?
I'm not too experienced with FH just yet.
Cheers

How to show status of Widow or Widower
Hi Barbara,
When you add a fact to a person you are shown the event/attribute list dialogue box. Click on the 'More>>' button and then click on the 'New' button. This displays the Create Fact Definition Box. Enter the Fact Name e.g. Marital Status and change the Fact Type to Attribute and then click on the 'Create' button. In thr Fact Definition box change the contents of the Template field to something that meets your requirements. I use {date} {individual} was {note}. Click on OK to close that box then click on Add to add the fact to your person. Then when you want to use this fact you just need to add a date and the description you want (e.g. a widow, unmarried etc) in the Note field. It might be a bit clunky but it works for me! I hope thsat helps.
