Nick,
A few observations / queries:
(a) In the image window, selecting save, then yes (to copy the file to a chosen folder), then selecting cancel (to back out of the save transaction), the save button (in the right portion of the image window) gets greyed out and the image saved. It can be removed if needed, but I find it odd the image is saved when the user has selected cancel. Is this deliberate?
(b) When entering a title in the right hand portion of the image window, any use of the right / left cursor buttons also scrolls the image. I'm aware these keys move the image when that is selected, but it's odd to see the image move when using those keys are being used to navigate in the text field.
(c) For good reason I keep my census images on a network drive, but all other project data is in the FH project folder structure on my PC. In the image window, when selecting save for a new image, Im unable in the copy image dialogue to select my network drive directory, and the only allowed options are within the media project directory. Have I missed a set up option somewhere?

Well its because you are cancelling copying the image somewhere but not actually cancelling saving the image - but I agree it probably ought to take you back to the previous dialogue so I'll look at that for the next version. Remember that the Save doesn't actually do anything other than state your intention to attach the file. So you can remove it after pressing cancel.rt said:

Yes that's not right, thanks for pointing it out - another one to fix.(b) When entering a title in the right hand portion of the image window, any use of the right / left cursor buttons also scrolls the image. I just mimicked what Family Historian does here: unless I'm missing something I believe this is exactly what FH4 does? If the image being selected is not within the project media folder then it offers to copy it there. If you choose not to do so then it links directly to the image. So in your case just make sure the image you are selecting is in the correct place on your network folder before you link to it. If you do this you should find that Ancestral Sources will learn where each folder is - so, for example, next time you open add an image to a UK 1881 entry it will open the folder where you keep your UK 1881 images.(c) For good reason I keep my census images on a network drive, but all other project data is in the FH project folder structure on my PC. Image Window Observations
Nick,
Many thanks for the prompt responses.
For (c):
Yes, I work as you suggest by copying each image, as it's needed, to the correct folder. I have a stock of images that I will use during the re-entry of my census information, and find it preferable to keep those out of the final directory until required. Keeping the final directory in view within Windows explorer then provides an 'always available' simple way of checking on the list of images already processed.

For (c):
I'd noticed how it always seems to open at the correct directory, and that's proved very efficient - so thanks for building that into the design. If you do this you should find that Ancestral Sources will learn where each folder is - so, for example, next time you open add an image to a UK 1881 entry it will open the folder where you keep your UK 1881 images.

Image Window Observations
I should add that I only found out that FH had the feature of copying files into the media folder shortly before A.S. was released. With my own family history I had just continued to copy the files directly into the correct folder myself as I'd done in the earlier versions of FH. So the 'Copy Image' screen was a very late addition.
Best wishes
