I purchased family-historian a few days ago and have happily managed to become aquainted with its basics, including transferring a gedcom file from a previous piece of software. My problem lies with the diagrams, If I try to see a tree of decendants/ascendants of more then three generations my laptop locks up (programme not responding). Does anyone have any ideas on why this could be? I have more than the minimum spec on my PC and Windows XP.

Have you had this problem with any other software package?

I, and I am sure many others, have run FH on a laptop with XP without any problems. I would suggest that the problem lies with your laptop and not FH - I know that is not what you really want to hear.

My suggestion would be to uninstall FH and see if the problem goes away if it does then reinstall FH and see if it comes back. The most likely reason, if it does return, would probably be due to graphics display and I do not think that there is much that you can do about that.

Sorry to not being more positive.
