Addition of an image to a citation
I have just recently found a use for having an image (not census) attached to a citation but I can't work out how to do it.
From memory, in V3 there was a camera icon in the yellow source/citation pane but in V4 it has disappeared and there is only an icon showing an arrow pointing at 45 degrees with a tooltip 'Show Multimedia'. I presume this will take you to view the the MM when available.
I've tried attaching the image to a fact but in my reports this shows the image in the body of the report not in the Sources/ Citations section. I can't attach to the Source because this is one source with many citations.
I can't find anything in Help, Getting Started with V4 or FHUG.
Can this still be done and, if so, could somebody please explain how?

I'll have a proper play to work it out later, but for now just use the all tab and add the media item to the source citation that way.

I've tried that but if I have two citations, each with its own image, only one image is shown in the report and then only when I tick the 'Show Source Pictures' on the Sources Tab in Report Options. The 'Show Source Citation Pictures' is also ticked but doesn't appear to have any effect.for now just use the all tab and add the media item to the source citation that way.

I never attach images to citations, as I always attach them to sources, I prefer the many sources route.
I just added two multimedia objects to a citation and changed the settings on the report to show more than one image for each source and they showed up fine for me as shown below

FH doesn't make it particularly easy, but I've had a bit of a play and have managed to use the Add Link to Face facility to effectively attach part of a document image to a birth citation. We have a family bible (which I have as a Source record) with 4 pages of family events (which I've scanned as 4 images which are attached to the Source). I then used the Multimedia window to outline a single entry on one of the images and link it to the relevant Individual. Then I used the Records window (or the Property box All tab) to move the Multimedia Object branch from the Individual to the Birth Source Citation, as shown below.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the relevant entry from the family bible image can then be shown in a report as a citation image.
I too normally favour the 'many sources' approach, especially for censuses (i.e. method 1 in Ancestral Sources). However, I think this linking of an image to a citation is useful in this sort of case when a single source covers many disparate events.

Jane & Peter
I too normally follow the many sources route and this is why trying to attach to a citation is new for me and I'm not being successful. In using the All tab, which I don't normally do, I'm probably doing something wrong.
I've now found another way to achieve what I wanted (using a dummy Census entry in Ancestral Sources) but I won't be using it either. I'll just go back to the many sources route.
Thanks for the input.

John,
To add Multimedia to a Citation using the All tab of the Property box (or using the Records window) you need to expand the branch for the relevant Fact. One of the sub-branches should be the Source link (i.e. Citation). If you right-click on the Source sub-branch, you can add various items to it, including Multimedia Object, as shown below:

John,
Glad you are getting the result you want. If instead you want to add Multimedia (or anything else) to the Source Record itself (rather than to the Citation, as above) you first need to expand the Source Record by clicking on the empty square to the left of the scroll symbol, as shown in the above image. Then you can right click on the name of the Source Record (in black to the right of the scroll symbol) 'All Saints, Bristol Parish Register [2]' and get a different set of 'Add' options to those shown above.

Distinction understood. I'm now getting a better understanding of the All Tab. Thanks again for your help.
