Autocomplete niggle??

Post by rt » 13 Apr 2010 19:36

Nick,

I'm getting an inconsistent behaviour with the 'auto complete' behaviour in different fields.

For example typing s (lower case) in the place field would bring up a place beginning with s from my place names, and (assuming the first auto selection is what I need), hitting 'tab' completes the selection. As an example, s might select 'Shillingstone, Dorset' and the autocomplete shows the correct value - with an upper case S.

In the occupation field, the behaviour is different. Selecting 'a' will bring up the remaining text of... 'gricultural Labourer' but pressing tab then completes the occupation but leaving the initial a as lower case. I've checked within FH and I don't have any occupations beginning with lower case a.

This is only a minor issue and may even be 'user finger trouble', but means I have to be extra careful with the checking before saving a census entry.

Is it me, or is there an inconsistency..!?

Occupation is picking from a drop-down list whereas the place field is searching through your file. This is why they work in different ways. The place field search is entirely written by me. The drop-down functionality is standard behaviour.
