Res Privata amp; 64 bit Windows

Can anyone confirm whether RP will or can be made to work on the 64 bit version of Windows 7? My system seems to think its incompatible.

I'm using it on the 64-bit version of windows 7 and don't remember having to do anything special to achieve that, although I may have used one of the compatibility modes to install it.

Curious. I was trying to run version 2.4.1 which resolutely fails to respond to any attempt to install it even in compatibility mode. I've just downloaded version 2.2.1 from FHUG and it runs with no problems at all. 2.4.1 has a setup program and associated DLL(s) whereas 2.2.1 is just an executable so maybe that was the problem.

Just checked -- I'm running 2.2.1.

Wouldn't know where to lay my hands on 2.4.1...

Seems like it was on the CD accompanying issue 42 (Oct 2006) of 'Your Family Tree' magazine.

If anyone has that copy, maybe they could pass on the program to Jane so that she can put it in the download section for everyone else to use since Res Privita is no longer available on the web.

I'm almost positive that I originally downloaded it direct from Naiborly Software and didn't get it from a magazine. Anyway, I'll rescue it from the recycle bin and pass it on to Jane.

I now have the 2.4 version, it's been packaged with a 16 bit installer (the same as early FH V2 CDs), when I get some time I will see if I can work out what it's doing and re-package it with a newer installer.

I've got v2.4.1 running quite happily on a Win7-64bit PC.

The exe file is called Rpriv32.exe

I have rebuilt the installer for Res Privata so it should work on Windows 7 and other 64bit OS.

I have updated the download link to the latest version.
