FH4 on Linux

Post by broadstairs » 07 Apr 2010 09:17

I have FH V4.02 running fine on Linux (Mandriva 2010) under Wine and so far everything I need works perfectly. It was installed from a download and activated OK with my name and key just fine. My problem comes with trying the latest pre-release upgrade which starts, asks for my name and key but then just ends. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this under Linux? My XP install upgraded just fine. I am trying to ditch XP and move to Linux full time. I dont really want to run VirtualBox under Linux as that still requires a full XP license. I was wondering if there is something it is looking for in the registry (which does exist in Wine). I know this is probably not supported but would be good if I could upgrade. I hope the full install will work OK when it comes out. Anyone have any ideas?

I suspect it's trying to write the key to the the registry, but the internals of the security program are pretty complex.

Hmm.... if true it should work especially if it uses the same process as the original V4 install which worked.
