I'd like to say many thanks to Nick for continuing the great work with GEDCOM Census into an all new product. Calico Pie should really be making a large donation to Nick because for me, it's the single most compelling reason to use Family Historian. I'm still using it even though I switched to Mac a year ago - I run it in a virtual XP machine. Having tried a number of different genealogy applications over the last few years, I think that the combination of Family Historian and GEDCOM Census/Ancestral Sources is greater than the sum of its parts. If there is any other software that assists with recording the maximum amount of information from documents against the people involved, I've yet to find it.
Calico Pie also deserve credit for making the decision that Family Historian would use GEDCOM as its database format. Many other products do not, and then you can find yourself in the situation where import/export doesn't quite cut it because even though GEDCOM is now a mature standard, a lot of products don't implement it very well. Without FH using GEDCOM as its database format, writing third party helpers such as Ancestral Sources would be extremely difficult.
Anyway I've downloaded Ancestral Sources so now I'm off to get to know it and then put it to work with some new data [smile]
