V4.1 upgrade

Post by JonAxtell » 20 Mar 2010 13:12

A big congratulations to Simon for producing the latest upgrade. [smile]

It was a pleasant and happy surprise to see an upgrade with so many fixes and updates. Simon must have been very busy. Considering the period between updates in v3, I hope this bodes well for future updates to v4 and that any further wishlist items, fixes and upgrades occur at least more than once a year.

V4.1 upgrade

That fix list looks very impressive, and I can see right off the bat how several of those will be very useful to me. Thanks, Simon!

It's a pity that the ability of FH4 to remember last window size and position wasn't included in the list. That would have made things perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks again for your hard work, Simon. :)

My FH window remembers where it was. Which window are you having issues with?

V4.1 upgrade

I've had a chance to look over the upgrade.  Quite extensive and I'm sure many of the new and/or fixed items will be of great use to many.

However, two of the things that I was desparately hoping might be in this upgrade are:

A drop down history list with the ability to 'go to' someone on that list.

And, a 'catch a duplicate before it happens' so that we don't have to spend hours merging whole families when we have inadvertantly put them in twice.  With large databases and time between working on them, it CAN and DOES happen.

Any chance of those items being included in the upgrade?  If FTM can do it, I'm sure it is a no brainer for Simon.

Select source (add to a fact via right clicking in the 'All' tab;

Select multimedia record (same method of adding to a fact as above).

Those are the two I use most, so I wind up having to manually resize them every time I open FH. They do retain position and size during usage, but the data seems to be lost upon closing the program.

Not a real headache, just a minor annoyance, but sure would be nice not having to do that every time, heh. [grin]

Any idea when the final 4.1 upgrade will be available, instead of just the RC ?

Thanks for the answer. :)
