In V4 I run with a single project, everyone in it has source records ie census, BMD Certificates.
I have been given access by a couple of distant relatives to their trees, as I do not have the source records then I deem them as unproven.
I am unsure as to how to record their details, one way I think would be to add them to my main project and flag them as unproven if that is possible?.
Another way would be to create seperate projects and then merge at a later date?.
If I created seperate projects when printing can I insert a  diagram from one project into a diagram from another?.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

You can't include another projects data in a diagram.

What you can do is when you merge the data is to set up a source of the person you received the tree from, all records and events then added will have the source you created against them.

Personally I now use the split tree tool to extract from any received files, the parts of the tree I want to merge and use the source to check where the data came from.

My own (possibly quirky and convoluted) method is to attach a note record to the source which just says unchecked. That way if, say, you attach the source to individuals at the whole record level, tou can easily set up a query to pull out your unchecked records. I then apply an 'unchecked' flag to the records and my diagrams are set up to show the boxes of such individuals as greyed out - a constant reminder of what remains to be checked. You can also easily exclude such individuals from gedcoms you upload to the internet or pass on to other people to make sure you don't pass on possibly suspect data.

The way I do it ..... Your 'source' for these unproven relatives is the person you obtained the information from. I just put their name and details for the time being so I know it is not a 'proper' source. Later if/when I can prove the relationship I add to the list of sources but I usually leave the contact's name as one of the sources for future reference.
