Tidying Up Sources

Post by rfj1001 » 06 Feb 2010 16:48

Over the years I've been using FH, I'm now in the situation that I have over 800 sources that can tidied up quite a lot.

Is there any facility (or way of achieving it differently) along the lines of Tools/Work with Data/Place List.

I need to be able to (1) merge sources (2) tidy up typos in others (3)identify person records that link to a source that I might wish to change to another source that is a better descriptor.

Thanks

Robin

You can merge quite easily by going to the sources tab on the records window, select a source, click on edit and compare records, then choose the source you want to merge with - in the same way as you can merge individuals.

You can also click on a source, then View, Record links to see which records are linked to that source

If you are using V4 you might also find my downloadable Fact Query useful: More Facts linked to a Source (V4 onwards):

Thanks Irene and Peter for pointing me in the right direction.

I notice if I control click on two records in the source pane, I'm taken straight to the merge window.
