More problems with printing and PDFs
I have been trying to print an all relatives chart and find that both when using PDF output and printing direct that there are missing vertical lines on the chart, both solid and dotted, I have increased the size of the lines from hairline but they only show on the graphic within FH not at all on the printout sent to the printer or on the PDF output. The missing lines are not at the edge of the page so they are not disappearing because of that.
The lines are there OK when saved as a graphic image.
Is this another bug perhaps?

Oh well, I am running XP, have you any idea when this might be resolved. The whole purpose of getting FH was to print some charts. I am beginning to regret getting it now because none of the charts I want will print correctly - at least for me in XP. Do you know which OSs have the problem?

Calico seldom announce dates, so I can't give you a time scale.
Are you using a left right format? I think it only effects left right layouts and Top Downs are OK.

Yes I was using left/right, mainly because for some charts it uses less paper!
Do you know which OSs are affected because I can switch OSs easily using virtualisation.

I think the changing OS only helps with some other issues with PDF as I tried the left right diagrams on a couple of others my self, and it seems to have the problem.
If you need to get them done quickly you could simply add the lines yourself as a workaround if you really need to use left right format.

I use xp & recently had this issue with left to right charts which I assumed was a bug. If you have another option, use it. I added the lines manually but found you had to offset them from the expected position to get the desired result. It was rather frustrating!

This problem is very frustrating...
...getting chart output from this software for use on the web is inadequate as far as I can see.
I can only output text based reports to the web...not charts, unless I allow download of pre-prepared PDF files.
And PDF files are unacceptable because vertical lines are missing.
My tree does not lend itself to a top down approach so I really want a left right presentation of the chart that I can publish.
Happens in latest live and also pre-release version.

V4.1 should resolve the vertical line issue in PDFs. You could also save diagrams as JPGs or PNG files and add them to the web site that way.
If you want most advanced web site capabilities you could look at use PHPGEDVIEW(free) or the TNG (paid for) tools which build the sites dynamically and can be loaded with a gedcom from FH (there is a converter in the Links section to split the images down for them).

Thanks. As mentioned, I am using pre-release 4.1.1 and its not resolved.
JPG and PNG file sizes cam out considerably bigger than PDF and were not as functional.
I recognise that using other software is an option but I'd prefer if the simplistic web stuff in this software worked!
I appreciate your thoughts and suspect you agree that a fix or workaround is not unreasonable.

Please can you send some samples and examples to Calico (support@family-historian.co.uk), so they can check, I know their release notes believe the vertical lines issue is resolved on 4.1.1

As suggested I have emailed a sample PDF and referred to my two postings regarding publishing issues with both charts and photos.

We have confirmed that there is still an issue with some lines not showing correctly in PDF files (can also affect printing incidentally). The problem only arises with 'All Relatives' trees when the orientation is not top-down. We will investigate this. Thank you for reporting it.
