Word Documents and FH Reports

Post by GordonH » 27 Jan 2010 14:31

I have just started using Family Historian and have been adding various media to it such as pictures. However I also have Microsoft Word documents containing stories and images relating to family members. I have been able to add them to the multimedia and link them the the relevant family members.

What I would like to happen is that when I create a Family Historian report, say for an individual, that the content of these word documents will be reproduced in full the FH report.

I have not been able to find a way to do this or a workaround - can anyone help?

Its not possible. Unless the attached multimedia is an image, FH will not show the contents of multimedia files in reports.

Word Documents and FH Reports

Thanks Jon,

This would have been a nice feature to have. If they could implement formatted text and the ability to embed images in record notes that would also get me the desired result.

After getting your note I tried outputting the FH report as a Word document in Rich Text format then manually adding my other material to it. That worked and I suppose its a solution of sorts.

I'll have a look at the Wish List to see if anyone has asked for anything like this.

I guess you could always paste the Word document into the notes for the inividual, then it would appear in the report.

I don't think there's a limit on how big a 'note' can be?

Doesn't always work as the point about using word is usually because 'I also have Microsoft Word documents containing stories and images'. You then come against the problem that FH's notes don't support formatting or any other textual enhancements.
