No double marriage lines in inserted tree

I am still evaluating FH4 and have now moved on to Diagrams, which from the various reviews was one of the main reasons for considering FH4.

When I insert a small tree snippet into an existing Diagram to incorporate a Spouse's ancestors, the lines connecting each of these married ancestor couples are not shown with the usual double lines? The snippet is shown upper left before I move it onto its final position.

Also is there an option which controls the height of the arched lines connecting the boxes where the same person appears more than once in an initial Diagram?

As an aside, to get GEDmill to show photos from an exported GEDCOM file from FH4, I had to edit the GEDCOM file to provide the absolute paths to the photo files. This is not an arduous task but I am wondering if I have missed an option in FH4 somewhere?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation.

Not sure about the missing lines I will check later.

I don't think gedmill has been updated to use V4 files, might be worth contacting them?

For the duplicate lines have you tried changing the settings in Diagram options, Check for Duplicate options (button)?

As a workaround with GEDmill, I have been taking a copy of my project (which I need to do anyway to cleanse it of sensitive data), and then remapping the media files in this copy 'Outside of the project folder' (i.e. leaving them where they are but changing the way they are mapped so that they have absolute file paths not relative ones). GEDmill then handles them correctly.

ETA: If I'd read the original post more closely, I'd have noticed that you're already doing this -- sorry.

I think there is no marriage lines because you have inserted an ancestor tree which is styled differently.
Experiment with a relatives tree hiding those you don't want.

By default Family Historian uses what it calls the 'Fork Style' for Ancestors. But if you prefer double lines, just open Diagram Options and untick 'Use Fork Style for Lines Connecting Ancestors' in the first tab of Diagram Options.

Sorry it took so long to acknowledge your very useful contributions.

I really appreciate all your time and effort.

I have sent my first draft (for my mother's family tree) off to interested parties using several FH4 custom reports - best described as 'compact descendant outlines' (1 to 2 page PDFs) which provide a very user-friendly overview adjunct to the GEDmill output.

Ultmately I visualise integrating these outines as supplementary indexes (with all individuals hot-linked to their respective GEDmill page). I found that the GEDmill index itself is very good, in that it picked up all the name variants, so no matter by what name you knew a person then you will readily find them in the index (what a bonus).

The GEDMILL html output provides a great launching pad (for those who are comforatable with html code) to incorporate all sorts of FH4 custom reports as well as all matter of archival photos and documents. I personally find the GEDmill format much easier to read, appreciate the information, and navigate at will, than the narrative style reports offered by programs.

Cheers
Tornado.
