I've gone and recorded my father's WW2 service as a standard 'occupation' event rather than a custom event.

Is it possible to change one type of event from one to the other, [ie, change the word 'occupation' into 'event'], without having to retype everything?

if you don't mind using a text editor. Open you gedcom file fine the occupation event for your father.

Change the
1 OCCU
To the two lines
1 EVEN
2 TYPE Military

Assuming you want the service to be in a custom event called Millitary. Don't forget to back up first and shut down Fh first then to validate the file (file menu) when you open it again in FH.
