Using flags to colour code the focus window

I have made a 'direct' flag to identify all the direct ancestors of my children.
Is it possible to use this flag to identify which are the direct ancestors on the Focus Window?...in the 1700s I sometimes forget who is who and lose myself in strange branches

Thanks!

I don't think you can colour control on the Focus Window as you can on diagrams, but you could always set one of the children as the File Root and then the relationship should make it obvious.

Something I am experimenting with is using the Individual's note field (the one at the bottom of the properties window to the right of the focus window).  I'm putting the Ahnentafel number related to myself in there, and it then appears under the individual's dates in the focus boxes.
I have a main tree with myself as root and all people  known to be connected in some reasonably convincing fashion, but I keep separate trees for constructions that are rather speculative (e.g. when trying to reconstruct a group of families).
These separate trees (usually) include to a person in my main tree who is (usually, though not always) an ancestor.  This person is the root for that research tree, but then the relationship to myself not always clear.
The reason why I work with separate trees is so that I can use the everyone diagram to show the separate family groups and odd individuals with some clarity.
