Has anybody got any recommendations as to who provides the best web hosting for family history projects?

Since FH's website generation creates static HTML pages rather than dynamic with database requirements etc, pretty much any web hoster is acceptable. As to which, they are many which offer limited space (<50Mb) very cheaply. It depends on the size of your site - mine with over 70,000 individuals just fits into 100Mb along with some pictures.

Thanks for that.

I have set-up and operated websites before for business etc but wondered if people had any experiences good or bad directly related to the type of thing we post.

Finally, 70,000 [eek] [eek] Do you own a town? Who does all the typing?

I use Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com)

They are a little more expensive than others @ $10.95 per month, but they provide everything you could every want, including unlimited storage.
They also provide one-click installs for many systems, such as Wordpress (which is used to host my family genealogy blog). I simply upload my FH-created 'website' to my webspace and provide a link to it through the blog.

Check it out below....

I use Hostgator for the hosting of this site and my own personal sites and have been happy with the service and the reliability of the hosting over the last 18 months since I moved to them.

I've used Rootsweb's Freepages for over 5 years without any problems.

Thanks for the contributions so far. Interesting that no one has suggested a UK provider yet!
