Split a tree

Post by Mancbird » 18 Oct 2009 08:06

My Jackson family were all born North of England.
One Jackson moved south.
He now has a line of his own which I call the 'southern Jackson'.
I would like to make a seperate ged-com file named Joshua Jackson.
Is there a way to seperate Joshua from my Jackson ged-com file?

Heres hoping, Grandma

Grandma,

There's a thread here http://tinyurl.com/yzx5qjj which explains how to do it.  It's not as tricky as it first seems - I've done it so it must be easy!!

The most important thing to remember is to BACKUP your GEDCOM before you start - just in case anything goes wrong.

Regards,

maggie

Thank you Maggie.
No problem with back-up.
Computer crashed. Lost my family tree.
3months to re-enter.
All backed-up on external hard-drive.

Happy hunting, Grandma
