I know I am doing something wrong, but I have been trying to link a census picture to an existing source and the individuals concerned.
I have tried via the media window where it links to the source alright, but when I click on each individual in the property box and click media there is nothing there. Do I have to link to each individual as well and if so is there a quick way to accomplish the link to source and all individuals who have that source.
Can I ask if someone would kindly explain in simple terms please
Many thanks

Hi Jackie,
The easiest way I've found to confirm that a Census image is attached is via the ALL tab on the Property Box. Find the entry for the relevant Census and click the + and again on the Source. You should see a branch for Multimedia (may be shortened) which holds the name of the image. Clicking on the image name should bring up the image itself.
I've also found that if I have to alter a Census entry, its best to use Gedcom Census which is available from the Download area on this site.
Hope this helps

The standard way to attach images, eg a Census image is attached to the source and not the person, so you can get to the image on the source from the source and not the person so to view the image.
Click on the event, then click on the source below and click on the little square with an arrow to open the multimedia for the source.
When you are looking at a report for a person source images will be included on the reports.

Thank you Bilko and Jane for your explanations.
I was hoping to use the gedcom census to add the images but the problem is that my gedcom file contains over 380 individual sources and when I try and use the gedcom census it doesnt let me edit the source number to reflect the relevant one in my file, so it starts at 381 instead of 1. So I think I will have to add them all manually again.
Thank you for your help
Best wishes

Gedcom Census can't be used to edit census information, just to enter new census records, although it does have a tool to attach images to existing census sources.
