Tab key wont leave format field in multimedia tab

While entering a new multimedia entry using the multimedia tab of the records window, using the tab key fails to move the cursor from the format field. Is this meants to be the case? It works for all the other fields and enters the format field, but wont leave it. I have to use the mouse to get to the next field.

I have not been able to reproduce this one. Please could you do a screen grab so I can work out where exactly you are.

I get the same effect. I'd be tempted to write it off as one of FH's less irritating endearing little user interface quirks, mainly because I hardly ever edit anything in the records window. I find a combination of a daigram and the property box gives you a much better sense of where you are, and in most cases you can see the effect of what you're doing as you go along.

While you're passing on the message could you also mention that the tab key gets trapped in the source pane when the property dialog is shown. You can tab through all the property dialog fields but when you enter the source pane, tabbing just cycles through the source pane fields and does not go back to the main property dialog fields.

Other places where the tab key doesn't work is in the Select Source dialog where when it is first opened the tab key doesn't work AT ALL. When you then select a field (ie Find Source) tabbing switches between the two fields and DOES NOT cycle through the buttons at the bottom of the dialog, nor through the list of sources. The same bug appears in the Select Repository dialog but this is probably because it's the same code.

There are other places in FH where the tab key doesn't work as expected but I can't remember them at the moment. However this is something that testing should have highlighted by now.

Also, could Simon ensure that when a dialog uses OK or Cancel the Esc works as expected in 100% of all other Windows programs. It would also be nice if Alt-O and Alt-C worked as well, and that accelerator keys (Alt-x key combinations) were used in many other places in FH.

Jon,

The one that really irritates me is when the Return key doen't action the OK button even when the OK button itself is explicitly highlighted as the default button. I'd accept it isn't always convenient to implement it, but in such cases the OK button should clearly be plain.

Sorry, yep - Enter should work just as much as Esc should.
