Family Historian User Group

When I load up Family Historian it comes up with the following:

'This GEDCOM file contains one or more sets of duplicate record IDs.'
It suggests I get rid of the ID.  I have done this, but every time the program on it comes up with this same message.  Please can anyone suggest what I should do. I am any use in the evaluation program at the moment.  Thank you

Make sure once you have removed the duplicate you are saving the file.

If you are re-loading the file from another program each time, make sure you correct the problem on the original program.

Also try using the File/Validate option to check for any other errors once you have removed the duplicate.

Thanks for your help.
I tried the File/Validate option and it comes up as ok. I have done the other things you suggest but still have the problem. Do you know if there is anything else I can try? Thank you.

Try saving the file as a new name, I wonder if you have FH automatically opening the 'wrong' file.

I will try that but I know it sound stupid but how do I save it as a different name. The file option only gives me the option to save and not 'save as'.

I presume you have built a project?

If so try using preferences to set it to automatically open so you can be sure you are opening the new file.

You're not stupid, it FH hiding the functionality. This is the third time that someone has mentioned the lack of a Save As option in the File menu. Are you listening Simon? Don't try and be different, just follow convention to make life easy for your users.

To find the Save As functionality click on File->Gedcom File Tasks->Save a Gedcom File Copy...
