Confused by source links

Post by donone » 06 Aug 2009 19:33

I have a source and image apparently linked to a birth because it is present in the persons 'birth source'
Dbl clicking on the thumbnail of the media image brings up edit media item window. This offers 'Link to birth xxx' followed by an empty box Link to Detail.
This makes me feel that it is not already linked, however my impression is that it must already be linked, else how did I get there.
Can you enlighten me please.

I'm not 100% sure as I don't use this feature much but I think the Link to Detail button is related to selecting frames in the photo. In other words the detail in a photo such as a face. Clicking the button changes the cursor to cross-hairs allowing you to select the area of the photo to be in the frame.

Thank you for that suggestion. I think with that possibility it would be safe for me to experiment on a copy of my data. I was concerned that something would go wrong and I might get some double linking or destroy the link I thought I had.

The empty box is where you can add a note about the item. What you describe is normal. The image is linked to the source correctly if it appears in the source's multimedia list.
