Licence and Loading on a new laptop

Hello from Pyrenees Pirate,

Having purchased V3 and then upgraded via the V4 free upgrade in May with no problems, I have now purchased a new laptop for the sole purpose of Family History and word processing.

Please can somebody shed any light on how I can download a copy for the new laptop whilst transferring the information from the existing Family Historian PC? I would really appreciate some feedback....I am sure that other users have come across this problem before.  My new laptop runs Vista and my old laptop uses XP.

All the best,

from a very sunny Pyrenees Pirate

To re-install you will need to install V3 first and then upgrade it to V4.

You will need

1. The V3 Trial install
2. Your V3 Key
3. The V3-V4 Install
4. Your V4 Key

The V3 Trail can be downloaded from http://www.family-historian.co.uk/downl ... 1.2_dl.exe The upgrade file can be downloaded from the link you received with your V4 key.

Install the V3 trial on your new computer and enter the key Next install the V3-V4 upgrade and enter your key.

Please save to a CD or other external media your Keys and the two install files in case you should need them again in the future.

If you have built a project with media with in it, you will just need to copy the project folder to move your data.

If you have customised the diagrams, text schemes etc, you can export them from your existing system and import them on the laptop.

You can also move things wholesale by copying directories, see [wiki]how_to:move_settings[/wiki] for more information on this.
