Hi, I'm trying to set up census flags as per the tutorial. When I follow the tutorial everything seems to go okay except for the program adds the census flags to my own entry as well as well as those it is supposed to, and obviously I wasn't around in 1841/51 etc. The om;y way I seem to delete it is to go into the tools menu and use the clear flags in the working with flags box which isn't good as it clears them all.
Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

What query are you using to set the flags?
To remove a single flag just go to the all tab of the property box of the person concerned and delete the flag by selecting it and pressing the delete key.

Just following the tutorial and using the query whereby you enter 'year=1841' etc which I think should set the flag on all applicable, but for some reason it enters a flag on me.

I presume you mean the query in the how to?
I can't think why it would do that unless when creating the query you might have added an extra line to the query, could you double check the Rows tab. If possible could you post a screen shot so I can see it.

hello again, think might have sorted it as the flags have now gone from mine and appeared on the others.
one question for you though I see you can put other flags besides census ones, ie occupation ones , so if I wanted to put say a flag to indicate the occupation say ag labs, do I have to do it on an individual basis or can it be done on a global basis? and if so what would I need to do?
Sorry if these questions seem a bit basic but this program is new to me as in my other one you couldn't do this

You can set flags for any thing you want, either manually or by using a query.
It really depends on how many you need to set.
So for example I have a flag for Ag Labs, which I set using the work with Data/Occupations to select Ag Labs then saved them to a named list using the Records button, then used the named list tool to set a flag for the named list.
Alternately I could have used the contains text query to find all occurrences of Ag Lab and then set a flag direct from there.
