I can see Custom IDs can be attached to Individual Records, but how about Sources?
Can these be given IDs?

Yes, just go to the property box for the source (the quickest way is select the source on the records window source tab).

If you right click on a source in the source tab of the record window you'll see an option appear labelled 'Add Custom Id'. And if you select the 'Work with Record Identifiers' menu option from the Tools menu you should able to see the drop down list which lists all the record types that can have a custom ID.

My Properties box looks almost like yours... except the ONLY missing field is the Custom Id. Where you have the field, have have empty space.
I can right-click a source and add a custom ID; when added it still does not appear in the properties box.
Changed the customise option - Author and Custom Id are already shown to display. Tried turning both on and off and still no Custom Id field.
OK, solved it, the box was too narrow to display Custom ID. Might need to change the position of the field so it stays on-screen longer.
