how do I set an icon using a function

I am using V4 upgraded from V3 but have never used functions before.

On diagrams I would like to add an icon to boxes associated to specific facts. For example I would like to see who has a 1901 census fact.

I have many entries with this fact and I don't want to go through them all and set a flag and I would like the icon to appear automatically once I have entered the fact (ie I don't want to have to remember to set a flag each time).

I expected something like:
=ContainsText(Year(%INDI.CENS.DATE%),'1901',STD)

as a condition in diagram>options>boxes, with an appropriate icon, would do it but nothing seems to appear.

=ContainsText(%INDI%,'1901',STD)
shows the icon if 1901 is in the note field (but not if the 1901 census fact only is present) but that is not what I need.

I would be most grateful for any guidance.

Try:

%INDI.CENS[year=1901]%

You can find Jane's excellent FHUG Flag Tutorial via the How To's menu which can take you to Using Flags and Icons here:

There is also a link to information about Gedcon Census, which I would strongly recommend. Amongst other things, it can automatically maintain flags for all the censuses.[smile]
