Adding Multimedia to a Source

In Version 3, I added many images of certificates etc. and always linked each certificate to the source record.  In V4, I can't see how to do this, as when I add a picture, the option of whether to add as an unlinked picture or linked to a source record, etc. does not appear.  I know I can add the image to an event, but that's not quite the same.

I'm sure I'm probably missing something, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks.

It does appear and as far I as I remember the icon is the same as it was before.

Once you click on either option you will be asked to add to a Person/Family or Source

Jane,

Thanks for your prompt reply.  I can see now how it can be done but I didn't use the icon before and doing it this way presumably means that all images have to be uploaded as unlinked images and then subsequently linked to a person, event or source - thus two-staging the process.

In V3, this could be done in one go, by going to the Insert menu when in the Records Window and choosing to insert a picture.  The options then included 'picture storage options' and 'insert as new ...' with the option to link to a record or field.  These options no longer appear when using the add picture option in V4.

Is it the case that each upload now involves two stages if the image is to be linked or is there a way to do it as before?

From the Record Window Source window you can add multimedia using right click as before or you can double click on the source to open the properties for the source and go to the multimedia window and add a new file there.

Thank you Jane.  Problem solved - I just have to get used to a slightly different way of working!

When using the right-click method you should be aware that the resultant file path will be a fully qualified one rather than the relative path.

i.e.
C:UsersDaveDocumentsFamily Historian ProjectsDAVEDave.fh_dataMediaCensusmycensusscan.jpg

rather than
