I have jpegs of censuses attached to their respective sources and would like to give them each a keyword eg 1841 census. Is it possible for example to select all my 1841 sources and give the attached images the keyword '1841 Census' in one go or, as I fear, I will have to do it one by one?

Sorry I think it's one at a time for now.
It might be possible to write a utility to help with this, but time is not on my side at the moment to code one. Do you have your media in folders which could be used to identify the keywords or not?

What I was thinking was have a script where you select a folder, and the gedcom file, then specify a keyword to add and the script then goes through and adds the keyword to the keywords for any media in that folder?

I use a free download called xplorer2 which is a dual pane replacement for windows Explorer. This allows a bulk rename function, although I have not actually used it. It may be worth looking at if you have a lot of files to rename.

For my own use I did a little utility to create keywords from folder names.
It worked for me, I have uploaded it to
http://www.fhug.org.uk/programs/FHKeywords.exe
Please back up your file and double check it with a validate when you open it again. It records back to the opened gedcom file. Please note only files which have been 'converted' to V4 eg have the _KEYS field will work.
The edit grid I used means that you MUST press tab on any fields you edit.
Please let me know if you find it useful.

Jane, you deserve a Gold star[smile].
I had begun to make a start by opening the gedcom in Notepad and finding each occurence of _KEYS and changing the keyword, but with this utility the job was finished in a few minutes.
Many thanks,
John
