Ahnentafel Numbers

Hello everyone,

I have searched everywhere in FH for an answer, so maybe you can help me...

The way I prefer to work when doing my research is by Ahnentafel-Numbers (Ancestor table). Now the pain is that everytime I print off whatever part of the family tree I want to work on I have to manually add on the Ahnentafel-Numbers. Is there any way to have FH include them in the print-out?

Thank you!

You can use the AhnentafelNumber() function on many of the report and obviously in any queries you need it on.

How ever some reports are not as configurable as others, where exactly are you trying to include it?

Hi Jane,
thanks for your quick reply!
I would like to use the ahnentafel-numbers on the ancestors diagram when I print it out. What I am hoping is that I can set one person in my database as 'number 1', so that regardless of what part of the tree I print, all persons on that will have their numbers showing. E.g. at the moment I am looking at the ancestors of one of my great-great-grandfathers in detail, so that's all I'm printing, but I want the gg-grandfather to show his number (120) and so on.
Hope that makes sense!

Thanks
Suzanne

I think, you can use the fileroot() as the parameter for the function so you get consistent numbers.

Suzanne,

Go to Diagram Options, Text tab, and pick the scheme that includes Ahnentafel Numbers. Using that information I have tweaked the Name field for my favourite text scheme to ...

%INDI.NAME:FULL% [=AhnentafelNumber([''],%INDI%,1)]

... which displays for example as Joe BLOGGS [120]. The ahnentafel numbers are calculated for you automatically with number 1 being the person you chose as the focus of the diagram. It's just brilliant.

How do you set the file root for this line of text?
Have just tried it. I am currently viewing a gg uncles tree in the diagram mode - which has set him to 1.

Just change the diagram root marker ['root'] for fileroot()

for example

Code: Select all

%INDI.NAME:FULL% [=AhnentafelNumber(FileRoot(),%INDI%,1)]
rather than

Code: Select all

%INDI.NAME:FULL% [=AhnentafelNumber(['<root>'],%INDI%,1)]

In V4 you can also use any specific record id for that field.

Just use the Record function with 'I' for individual and the id number for example to get the number for person 2 use

Code: Select all

%INDI.NAME:FULL% [=AhnentafelNumber(Record(2,'I'),%INDI%,1)]
