Has anyone experienced the use of Gensmarts? This is a new U.S. programme which analises your data and makes research recommendations. I understand they have recently incorporated England, Scotland and Wales. Comments please.

There is a trial version on the web site at http://www.gensmarts.com/download.asp
Might be worth downloading to see what it does. I know when I tried the original version it has a definite USA bias.

I have just had a look at it and I am not sure what it is supposed to be telling me - perhaps I should have gone through the intro first.
Just having a quick look at the data it is telling me to research individuals that there is nothing to research! It was saying that for myself I should research my birth records - well I already have that documented!
Also there are some incorrect assumptions being made, probably because it is American. It is saying, for example, that Stockport is in Derbyshire which it is not and never has been. So I would suspect that there will be plenty more like that.
Having said that it may just highlight something that has been overlooked but I doubt if I will part with $25 for it.

Have just had a look. Don't think it is worth the money. Because as far as i can see all it does is produce a list of items to search i.e. Births, Deaths, Marriages, Censuses etc. The list i'm sure can be produced better in Family Historian anyway by using queries and the websites it directs you to use for looking at data are sites most people use anyway. e.g BreeBMD, LDS, FamilyHistoryonline etc. so would not recommend. especially as says should check for stuff when i have put in sources for marriages, births, etc.
