Hi, I have been using FH for several years, but am still a beginner. When I add a source for an event (eg Residence) in the Individual, I sometimes find that although a source already exists, it does not show up in the list of Sources that comes up when you say 'ADD'. As a result, I have ended up with 3 sources (different record IDs) with exactly the same name. Is this a bug in FH 3.1, or is it 'User Error' (for example the source record is displayed not in alpha sequence)? I saw that there is a tip on finding out which individuals have which sources, but it is a bit of a pain to sort this out. Would appreciate any advice.[smile]

Missing Sources/Multiple Sources
I suspect it's either user error or you have merged in other databases with similar sources.
Probably the simplest way is to merge the source records, just go to the Records window tab select two of the sources and from the Edit menu select Merge/Compare records to merge the records, you can only do two at a time though I think.
You can sort the list by any column when selecting sources, so it's possible you had them sorted by something other than name.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for your very helpful reply. I've never tried that facility (Merge/Compare), and it looks a very good solution. You're probably right about user error. I'm not quite sure how I managed to create the problem though. Cheers, Tim L[smile]
