Fed Up

Post by sue120502 » 03 Mar 2009 19:53

I am tearing my hair out by the roots.

I have imported my database from another Family Tree software package and all my multimedia documents are there, eg. photo's, census records etc. in the Multimedia Records screen. I have spent hours linking each person to his/her face on photograph and/or his/her entry on a census.

Unfortunately none of my census multimedia items have a source attached to them. This being the case, I created a few sources and linked them to their images. However, all this serves to do is create duplicate entries in the Multimedia Records screen. I don't want to have to link all the people to their entries on these duplicates again.

Is there a way that I can link the existing multimedia record to a newly created source, instead of what seems to happen, ie. linking a source to a multimedia record which creates a duplicate multimedia record. Or is there a way to link a new source to an existing multimedia record without a duplicate entry being created?

I obviously want the sources so that I can click on same within an individuals record, so that I can look at the multimedia item attached.

I hope I've explained myself ok.

Thanks and regards,
Sue[cry]

I'm not sure I entirely understand what you're trying to do but just in case this is the answer... You can create a new source, then right-click on the source in Records Window and choose 'Add Multimedia Object' and then 'Add Link to Existing Multimedia Object' and then choose the multimedia record you want.

Hope that helps?
