Gedcom census flags
Pleae note that I am new to FH and finding my way round.
I have set up a basic gedcom file and also created census data with GEDCOM Census and data appears in FH.
I have then created a flag in GECOM Census for 1841 that exists in Gedcom census. However when I open using FH, there is no evidence of the flag (file has been saved and both applications restarted).
Go back to GEDCOM Census and the flag is definately there. I know that it is not in FH because the step I was going through next was associating an icon to the flag through the records window as per the new V3 style tutorial.

If you did it exactly i the order you describe, then I suspect Gedcom Census will have set up an association between the flag and the census date, but not actually applied the flag to the census record previously entered.
Check in Gedcom Census (Tools>Census Flags) that you have the 'Automatically record flags when saving census records' box ticked. Then, click on the 'Flag Check' box; this will apply any missing flags you have set up but which have not yet been applied, or where you have set up census records before defining the flag.

In addition to everything that GladToBeGrey said, although the association has been set up there won't be a flag in the file until you create a census entry for 1841 (or run flagcheck against any previous 1841 entries you may have made).

FYI the first response worked perfectly and I now have flags and icons.
The deciding factor for me selecting FH was that it has this forum for support, and it has already been great.
Thank you Jonathan.

Being new to FH 4 and gedcom, I have been reading the forums re:Flags. I am able to find them to download, where do I then install them so that they will be available.
Many thanks

Many thanks for your help, I had looked for an article on 'how to' without success, but you pointed me straight to it, very helpful.
Thank you.

I too would like to know where / how to store icons after downloading but the reply to 'Wales' request was not posted. Can someone point me to the link.

Hi Ajay,
Unfortunately, the answer to your question depends upon which version of Windows you are running.
On my Windows Vista machine the path to the main directory is -> C:ProgramDataCalico PieFamily Historian. Below this there are sub-directories for Icons, Flags, Queries etc.
I don't have FH4 running on an XP or Windows 7 set-up, so hopefully another Listmember could help on them . . . .
Regards
Bilko

The location is the same on Windows 7 as on Vista
C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian
I looked in the Knowledge Base article on Moving Settings and apparently in XP the setting are here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Calico Pie\Family Historian
As the article says:

As the article says:
If you don't see the Application Data folder under All Users, you will need to go into the Tools->Folder Options menu option in Explorer (normal Explorer, not Internet Explorer) and select the View tab. In the advanced settings ensure that Hidden Files and folders is set to Show hidden files and folders.
